Switches are able to segment a single network/only send packets to requesting computer  
Hub-all computers get packets which can create latency issue   

How to Recover Data from a virus-infected computer?

  1. take out Hard drive and connected to another computer that has updated Virus definitions, updated MS Patches and drivers. Scan the infected Hard Drive and extract data that’s needed

Monitor not working?

How to get to Safe Mode? 
  1. Restart computer and press F8 before OS load than select Safe Mode 
  1. Some computer Ctrl + F8 / Fn + F8 check on your computer brand 
  1. On windows ---Win—power—shift + restart—Troubleshoot—advance option 
  1. Newer computer boot very fast so you won’t have time to press F8 before it boots, specially those using SSD 
-several attempts my be required  
-You may need to enable F8 before by going to CMD and typing “bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy  
5. Win+run—Boot—Safe boo + minimal  
6. Hold down Power button until PC is completely off and repeated 2 to 3 times/when you see preparing Automatic Repair

Press the F4 key or number 4 key on your keyboard to enter Safe Mode. 

*safe mode only allows essential system programs and services to start up at boot and its used to troubleshoot driver issues, hardware issues and to remove viruses 


What is IP address 
-A number assigned by the DHCP to each computer to identify existence/location

What is Group Policy (GP) 
-Active Directory assigns GP to each mew user added in the database 
-i.e. user login credentials and permissions will be assigned to a GP that will assign the level of permission (i.e read/write or execute and restrict access to network resources) 

What is .PST file? 
Used by outlook archive file. An email archived is commonly known as a PST and saved into the computer. 

How do you change folder permission 
-At Group Policy 
-At local level with Admin. Privileges –(click on folder-properties-security-edit (pop up will provide the ability to add users and allow for read, write, Execute or full permission))
